Learn Vedic meditation with Kathleen O’Brien

The 20 minutes that will change your life…

Vedic meditation is an easy and effortless technique that anyone can learn. It’s practiced for 20 minutes twice a day, sitting comfortably with the eyes closed. There is no focus, no concentration and no control of the mind. Instead, you are given a personal mantra, and are taught how to use it silently and effortlessly to cause the mind and body to relax. In turn, this allows you to release built up stress and fatigue easily and spontaneously. Through a daily practice, you become less stressed, more calm, and begin to tap into your natural state of creativity, clarity and happiness. Want to know more?

What is Vedic meditation?

  • Vedic meditation is an easy and effortless technique that anyone can learn. There is no focus, no concentration and no control of the mind. Instead, you are given a personal mantra, and are taught how to use it silently and effortlessly to allow the mind and body to relax. In turn, this allows you to release built up stress and fatigue easily and spontaneously. Through a daily practice, you become less stressed, more calm, and begin to tap into your natural state of creativity, clarity and happiness.

  • We use a mantra to help catch the mind and draw it towards deeper, quieter states of being. We combine the use of a mantra with a simple, easy technique that teaches you how to let go. The best part is that by learning how to let go in meditation we learn how to let go in daily life. Think of meditation like a simulator - the more time you spend learning the more you’re able to put it into practice!

  • We aim to practice for 20 minutes, twice a day with the eyes closed. We practice sitting upright (think chair, couch, parked car or even your bed). We sit comfortably, easily and can move at any point if we get uncomfortable. You don’t need a meditation room, all you need is a place to sit and close the eyes. We always say wherever you can think, you can meditate.

  • Meditation benefits are cumulative - the more you do it the more you benefit! Each person is different and will gain what they need, but widely reported benefits include:

    • Noticeable reduction in stress, overwhelm and anxiety

    • Greater creativity and cognition

    • Reduces fatigue and increases sleep at night

    • Ongoing regulation of nervous system and reduction in overstimulation

    • Increase in clarity and decision making capacity

    • Greater energy and adaptability throughout the day

    • Feeling more confident, grounded and self-aware

    • Navigating high pressure situations with greater ease

    • Reduction in reactivity and improvement in personal relationships

    • The ability to be present with friends, family and loved ones.

Day 3 (1.5 hrs) - Here we take a deeper look at the mind–body connection, the science of stress, and the profound intelligence behind this ancient practice. You’ll begin to see how meditation changes your inner and outer experience of life.
